Celebrating Veterans Day

November 08, 2023
By Annie Pichot, Principal

This week we had the privilege of honoring our veterans. With so many men and women at our campus who are currently serving or who have served, this day is extra special to us at Frederickson. To show our appreciation to all the families who have sacrificed so much, we celebrated their commitment to our country during our Veterans Chapel on Wednesday, November 8. This service included two separate programs, one for younger grades (K-2) and another for our older students (3-6), each including a heritage video tribute honoring the veterans in our school community.

We also welcomed our guest speaker, Elizabeth Chong, who had a special chapel message to share with us. Elizabeth joined the military in 2003, serving honorably in the US Army as a medic until 2006. After her time in the service, Elizabeth married her husband Mike and went on to nursing school where she worked as a labor and delivery nurse in Tennessee. Today, Elizabeth and Mike have 5 children together and have been residents of Washington State for the past 13 years. Together they are involved in full-time ministry, discipling and mentoring soldiers to become more like Jesus.

Elizabeth is one of the many veterans recognized and honored during chapel.

For the bravery and sacrifice to protect our country and our freedom, we stand united in saying, “Thank you for your service."
