Celebrating Spiritual Emphasis Week

February 19, 2025
By Jennifer Walling, JH Principal

As we turned the corner into the second half of the school year, our JH and HS students had the opportunity to refocus on our spiritual theme of Be Still, and we spent some time reorienting our hearts and minds on Christ during Spiritual Emphasis Week (SEW). We spent the first three days of the second semester intentionally focusing on the Lord, and we engaged in the following activities:

  • An all-school chapel: Pastor Caleb Bryant brought an amazing message that was both convicting and encouraging. We invited our sixth graders to join us, so we had over 800 students worshiping the Lord and hearing truth from His Word together in one place.
  • An optional time of guided prayer: Hundreds of students filled the gym to pray together in small groups. It was so encouraging to see how many students made the decision to come and pray as a community.
  • An optional time of worship: Hundreds of students chose to come and sing/pray during a time of worship led by staff. This was such a powerful time for so many of us!
  • Breakout sessions: We had dozens of sessions for students to choose from and took the afternoons of both Thursday and Friday to learn and grow in faith during these breakouts led by our faculty.

It was incredible to hear the stories of what the Lord is doing in the hearts and lives of our students during Spiritual Emphasis Week. We are so thankful for this opportunity to slow down and focus on what really matters as we enter the second half of the year.

We hope that your midwinter break was restful, and we know that the rest of February is going to be great here at CCS! We are grateful to be a part of a community that joins in unity to worship the One deserving of all our praise! Thank you, Jesus, for who You are, what You’ve done, and what You are still doing in all our lives!

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” (1 John 3:1, NIV)
