Greetings Cascade Christian community! I hope this finds you all doing well and enjoying a fantastic start to the 2024-25 school year.
As I sit at my desk and look out the window of my office, I see one of those classic Pacific Northwest kind of days—65 degrees and cloudy—which reminds me of the reality that summer is coming to a close, and fall is arriving. It is in a moment such as this that I find myself experiencing inner conflict. I love the warmth and change of pace that summer brings and, in many ways, do not want to see that come to an end. At the same time, I love the arrival of fall because it means new beginnings. It means our campuses come back to life, so to speak.
As I look out my window, the other things I see are a full parking lot and the movement of hundreds of bodies as students and staff experience the first days of the new school year—and that energizes me. So, not only does that mean the fall sports season has arrived, but it also means that soon to follow will be winter and spring sports seasons, theatre productions, musical performances, and many other kinds of activities, all of which I thoroughly enjoy as well. And, before you know it, another year will have come and gone.
Therefore, while we all need to embrace our Spiritual Theme of “Be Still,” we need to do so in the context of making the most of each moment as it comes and goes throughout the year, starting with events such as Preview Day for JH/HS students, Meet the Teacher Day for elementary students, the first days of formal instruction, and then everyone coming together to experience Convocation on Saturday, September 14. Convocation will be a great community-building experience that you won’t want to miss. I’m looking forward to seeing you all there, and I’m looking forward to collectively experiencing throughout the year what it means to be still and know that He is God.
In His service,
Ken
