One of the greatest joys of working at CCS is the partnership with our amazing community of parents and families that makes what we do at junior high possible. From volunteering on campus, to giving gifts to our staff, to serving in many capacities, our parents are integral to our school culture ... AND WE DO HAVE THE BEST!
One of our amazing volunteers and Parents for Cascade (PfC) district lead, Kim Sando, has become our school’s “mom.” Her hours of service and volunteer work cannot be adequately captured, but we do want you to read a bit of her journey in connecting as a volunteer at CCS through the years. We hope that each family can find meaningful ways to join in the mission of our awesome school, whether through volunteering, giving, or serving as a strong educational partner in the life of students. Check out Kim's perspective and journey at CCS:
Our two sons, one who has now graduated, have attended Cascade Christian Schools for the past 15 years, and it’s been a great experience for our whole family.
We’ve all grown so much from those initial nervous days in the fall of 2007 when our youngest started kindergarten at the Frederickson Campus. I discovered opportunities to help in the classroom and around campus through bake sales, art projects, reading groups, yearbook photos, book fairs, Parents for Cascade, and sports teams. This helped to smooth the transition and let us see firsthand what a Christian-based education looked like.
Junior high was a time for me to pull back so our sons could develop greater independence in an environment where they could fail safely and figure out how to do better next time. Suddenly, there were seven different classes for them to navigate, recess was gone from the schedule, and they had to learn basic time management ... all things they couldn’t learn with their mom hovering nearby!
By the time our boys got to high school, Cascade Christian had firmly established trust with our family, allowing us to enjoy watching our kids grow and develop into young adults. The opportunities to be on campus now are fun ones—attending honors chapels, watching sporting events and musical performances, flipping pancakes at the I-Term kickoff breakfast, and celebrating teachers and staff at Christmas and during Teacher Appreciation Week.
We’re grateful for our time at Cascade Christian and the growth it has provided all of us. Now we are looking forward to one more year before our youngest graduates in 2023.
