COVID-19 Cascade Christian Thrive Adventure Day Camp Information:
Drop Off - Health screenings conducted at time of arrival; temperatures are checked (100.4 or higher may not enter the building) Children, parents, and staff cannot come to campus if someone in their household is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms:
- A fever (100.4 or greater)
- Shortness of breath
COVID-19 social distancing guidelines - Our primary source of information regarding COVID-19 is the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department (TPCHD). We will rely on TPCHD for information to determine if conditions should warrant alteration to our normal day camp schedule. The superintendent's office has direct contact with the TPCHD so we are in close communication with their officials.
The Washington State Department of Health is a leading source regarding the health crisis situations in our state and provides school districts direction on how to manage responses to COVID-19. We refer to both the TPCHD as well as the Washington State Department of Health for information.
Wonderful and Experienced Staff – After added planning, our Adventure Day Camp team is ready to go! They have put together an updated summer plan that is packed full of fun adventures, while following health and safety guidelines.
Scouts Group (Ages 6-8) – We will strive to maintain a 1:9 staff to camper ratio for groups and for each group to have their own space. All campers will not be gathering together, for large group activities, until it is safe.
Explores Group (Ages 9-12) - We will strive to maintain a 1:9 staff to camper ratio for groups and for each group to have their own space. All campers will not be gathering together, for large group activities, until it is safe.
Weekly Themes - Our Adventure Day Camp 2020 theme is “Happy Trails”! Although we landed on this theme last Fall, it truly has turned out to be the perfect theme for this summer. We have exactly fifty days of summer camp, which allows us to visit and explore a new state each day. As campers travel along the trail, they will be able to collect each states’ quarter - a souvenir to remember our journey!
Weekly Adventure Field Trip – We have collected and created awesome virtual trips for our campers to explore places all over the country! At this time, all field trips will be taken virtually. Our hope is that it will be safe to add them back into the schedule at some point later this summer.
Educational Activities – Our small groups will have a number of hands-on activities for our campers such as: Early Birds, Discovery Zone, Thrive On-Read On, Devotions, Arts and Crafts, Camp Rocks, Great Outdoors, Kid Favs, Small Group Games, Tech Time, Fun in the Sun STEM, and Night Owls. Hand washing has been built into our daily schedule between each transition.
Lunch – We will be eating lunches in our small groups. Campers stay in their same groups all day.
Nutritional Snacks – Campers will receive an AM and PM snack. Traveling can create you hungry! It is fine to pack an extra snack in your child’s backpack (nut-free friendly).
Sport-Tek Camp Shirt – We loved our highlighter orange shirts last year! Our camp shirts this year will be “electric blue”!
Swimming – At this time, we will not be swimming. We hope that it will be safe to add in later this summer.
All District Camp Events – We have moved the All Camp Picnic and Big Event Day to the end of summer in hopes that larger groups will be able to meet by then.
WildWaves – We will not be going to WildWaves, but do hope we can add it into our schedule once it is safe.
Information above is subject to change to help us meet the needs of the current recommended social distancing guideline for summer day camps.

They LOVED camp, and it made such a big difference with their emotional well-being—socializing with kids and having fun activities to do.
