Welcome back, PELC families!
It’s hard to believe that we are in September and starting another school year. The summer flew by!
As we go into this year’s spiritual formation theme of “Be Still,” I have been thinking about what that looks like at our childcare center. Be still? Toddlers and Preschoolers don’t know the meaning of that. Instead, I thought about how we as teachers of these little ones could be examples of what it looks like to be still: taking a deep breath, praying in the hard moments, and, of course, dwelling in the one thing all our teachers are gifted with—patience.
I was thankful to find an educator’s devotion that speaks to just that. This is the devotion and prayer I shared with our staff during last week’s in-service days, and I pray it touches your family as well.
“The Bible is just filled with example after example of God’s trustworthiness…and it’s also filled with flawed humans just like us, who had rock-solid faith one moment and crippling doubt the next.
I thank God that He is not only trustworthy but also exceedingly patient with me. No matter how many times I need to be re-taught that He is God and I am not, He lovingly and patiently does it, guiding me back into the shelter and refuge of His arms.
Heavenly Father, thank you for Your patience with me. Thank you for not only laying out good plans for me but also for being there to hold me when I mess them up. Thank you that You have promised You will fight for us; we need only to be still. Amen.”

God is trustworthy, and I know that He will guide us to be still in the moments we need it most. Continue to pray this prayer with us, and we look forward to the amazing school year ahead!
