Dancing Ballet Bees!

Children are naturally creative and enjoy all forms of artistic expression: storytelling, music, dramatic plays, dance, and visual arts. As the Ballet Bees instructor for the past 12 years, I am honored to continue providing these little ones a platform to express themselves through dance.

My love of dance began at the age of three. I was blessed to learn many forms of dance, which included jazz, tap, lyrical, acrobatics, and ballet. At one point, I remember my mother telling me that I had to choose just one style of dance to pursue. I chose ballet!

I continued to dance throughout college and graduated from Tacoma School of the Arts. I also hold a bachelor of fine arts degree in dance from Cornish College of the Arts. God gave me this amazing gift, and I am delighted to share my love of dance with our ballet bees.

I am incredibly impressed with all of them. They are quick to learn, like little dancing “sponges.” Recently, we learned to sauté, which means “jump” in classical ballet. That same day, as one of my dancers was departing, I overheard her say to her mom, “Sauté,” which she immediately followed up with a beautiful ballet jump. My heart leaped for joy!

The ballet classes we offer at Puyallup, McAlder, and Frederickson’s KPrep programs provide a wonderful opportunity for the children to express themselves through movement as well as for them to learn a classical art. In fact, research shows that as their dance knowledge and experience grow, so will their self-confidence, social skills, and skills in literacy, problem-solving, and healthy living. What an amazing opportunity for our Ballet Bees dancers! I feel so blessed to be their instructor.

Let them praise His name with dancing;
Let them sing praises to Him with timbrel and lyre.
