Christmas is in the air at Puyallup Elementary. As I’ve walked around Pioneer Campus, the joy of the Lord is in every smiling face I see. I love how the spirit of Christmas shines through artistic creations and art projects. Our students are also working hard on their upcoming Christmas programs, and they are excited to share the true meaning of Christmas. We are thankful to have the opportunity to share the story of Christ’s birth in each classroom.
As I’ve reflected on the past several months, I stand amazed at the valuable lessons and timely reminders that God has graced me with. As our campus sits in a time of waiting, I am thankful that God is continually reminding me to wait patiently, be still, and trust in His plan. Throughout the Christmas Advent devotional I am doing, our study at church in the book of Exodus, and our school theme this year, I have been reminded that God’s people are often called to wait on the Lord. I have also been reminded that He is absolutely sovereign over all things, His plan is greater than ours, and He uses all things for our good. As we find ourselves waiting on Him to help complete our classrooms, let’s remember that thousands of years ago, God’s people waited for the coming of the Messiah—a promise that was given thousands of years before. This Christmas we celebrate that our Savior has come!
God extends His patience to us daily and sets an example for how we should have patience in our lives. I am reminded that patience is the ability to accept delay, suffering, or annoyance without complaining or becoming angry. We are called to be patient and wait on the Lord and His timing in all areas of our lives. We are called to be patient in suffering and to count it as joy (James 1:2).
As we enter this Christmas season, I pray we can see all the ways God has been good to us. Jesus came to rescue us from our sin. He lived the perfect life we cannot. In God’s sovereign plan, He calls us to himself. He extends grace and mercy and has made a way for us to be forgiven of our sins. We marvel at the birth of Christ, we are thankful for His death on the cross, and we wait patiently for His return!
We pray your family will rest in the great work the Lord has done, and we pray your family will experience lots of love and many blessings during this Christmas season!
