Celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus

March 26, 2024
By Carlee Peterson, Principal

Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.

—1 Corinthians 15:3–4, NIV

This Friday, we will pause to remember the day Jesus was put to trial, the day He was nailed to the cross, and the moment He died for us so that we could be forgiven. Jesus did not defend himself.

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

—2 Corinthians 5:21, NIV

Christ died for us. He willingly took all our sins on His shoulders. He experienced the full wrath of God so that we wouldn’t have to!

When I remember Friday, I am in awe of God’s goodness, and I am grateful for His forgiveness!

Praise God, Jesus didn’t stay in the tomb. The fact that we get to celebrate Easter—or as I like to call it, Resurrection Sunday—brings so much hope for those of us who have placed our faith in Christ. Jesus’ resurrection reminds us that He has power over death, and we have forgiveness and redemption for our lives.

What a blessing it is to work in a school where we can celebrate this with our students. Over the past couple of weeks, our teachers have been creating various lessons and activities in their classrooms to point our students to the hope we have in the resurrection of Christ!

May you and your family take time this Easter weekend to remember all that God has done for you and may you have a blessed spring break!

Anticipating I-Term

March 20, 2024
By Zoey Baldwin, CCS Senior

IMPACT Term is a unique secondary-level experience held between third and fourth quarters each year. I-Term is designed to provide opportunities outside the classroom so students can experience who God is and how He uses His people to love and serve each other (1 Peter 4:10). Through local, domestic, and international experiences, students gain a more thorough perspective of God’s kingdom on earth. As a result of participating in I-Term, students can develop skills, discover passions, and build relationships that may not have been possible in the traditional classroom setting. Below are some thoughts from high school senior, Zoey Baldwin, as she anticipates her I-Term trip.

As the days slowly tick down to the flight to South Africa, I start to not only grow in my excitement but also the bonds with those also going. Throughout the year, we’ve started meeting with the team going, playing games, and learning about what we will do once we finally get there. Going the farthest away from home I have ever been makes me a little nervous, but after hearing the joy and faith of the people we will be working with and the love of Jesus we get to share with those we serve, my anticipation builds. From when I was young, I heard from my older sister of the impact I-Term had on her life. As I finally get to go on one of the foundational I-Term trips, I continue to pray that God not only works through me to show His love for His people and the grace He has on us but that He also changes my heart and perspective. I can’t wait to spend this upcoming I-Term trip in a beautiful place alongside wonderful people to serve an amazing God.

Abide in God’s Joy

March 13, 2024
By Paige O’Dell, Instructional Assistant

I consider myself a planner, and it is difficult to plan without knowing what’s to come. When we are standing in the unknown it is hard to plan and hard to trust.

I have been reflecting on a recent sermon I heard at church where my pastor preached about the importance of having childlike faith. In Matthew, chapter 18, the disciples are asking Jesus who the greatest in the kingdom of heaven is. Jesus replies in verse 3 and says, “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” What Jesus is referring to is the faith of a child. The humility and surrender that children have in just believing.

Having childlike faith means that we trust who God says He is, and who He says we are. Childlike faith trusts God's Word. So, the big question is, do we trust God for our lives or do we not? Even further, how do we abide in God’s joy amid uncertainty. Without knowing the answer, can we still trust and be joyful?

How often do I, or any of us, slow down enough to ask God, what do You want me to do? Where do You want me to go? I believe that through complete surrender we find the joy that God has in store for us. The only thing that we are risking by not giving up full control is perfect peace in our souls.

Growing up, my mom, the most wonderful hard-working woman that I have ever known, always reminded me that God is never late, He is never in a hurry, and He is always on time. Long story short, yes, I still need to go to work; I still have to make lunches, clean the house, do the dishes, get to basketball, get to gymnastics—oh, the dog needs to go out—I forgot to move the wet clothes from the wash to the dryer again. Yay! But in this beautiful, mundane chaos, I can choose to surrender. I can choose to trust God for my whole life and abide in His joy. I couldn’t have known or planned ahead for the joy God had for my family and me within the CCS community, but God had a plan to bring our family here three years ago, and it’s been one of the greatest blessings of our lives! This community is truly special, and God is so worthy of our trust.
