Welcome to our new JH/HS Assistant Principal and Athletic Director
Cascade Christian is proud to welcome DJ Heltsley, our new Assistant Principal and Athletic Director, to the Cougar Family.
Mr. Heltsley was born and raised in Puyallup, where he attended Rogers High School and was a team captain in both basketball and football. He then fulfilled his childhood dream of becoming an Arizona Wildcat while pursuing his undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona. He graduated magna cum laude with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with an emphasis on Finance.
After graduation, Mr. Heltsley came back home to Puyallup and pursued his Masters of Arts in Education at Pacific Lutheran University. He started his teaching journey in 2009 by student teaching at Cascade Christian Junior High/High School, while also coaching the JV boys basketball team, and assisting on the back-to-back Cougar State Championship teams. In 2010, he was hired at Columbia Junior High in Fife to teach math and coach multiple sports.
Following in the footsteps of his father, who finished his career in education as the Bethel School District AD, Mr. Heltsley is eager to serve Cascade Christian’s families in his new AP/AD role. Mr. Heltsley shared that he is “beyond ecstatic to be joining the CCS family! I truly believe that my life and professional experiences to this point have all been part of God’s intricate plan to prepare me for such a time as this. I am thankful to be welcomed into a workplace where glorifying Jesus is our greatest priority, and I am excited to have a hand in raising up strong Christian men and women who will profoundly impact their world.”
DJ and his wife Carly have two lovely daughters, Lucy Capri (3) and Ruby Kate (1). The Heltsley family will be well known on the JH/HS campus as Carly has also become part of the CCS staff this year as the Campus Enrollment Manager for Junior High and High School.
We are excited to have you a part of the CCS family, Mr. Heltsley!
