Why My Children Attend CCS
Feeling the Lord’s leading, I agreed to become the Director of Development for Cascade Christian Schools in the summer of 2010. That first year with CCS, we experienced many positive exchanges and felt very good about enrolling our son in kindergarten the next fall. Looking back on that decision, I can easily say that committing to CCS has been one of the best choices I have ever made.
Today, I have 5 children enrolled at CCS, spanning early learning through seventh grade. I often find myself wiping tears of joy from my eyes because of a positive interaction one or more of my kiddos have had at CCS. In this community, my children are loved, cared for, prayed for, and oh yeah, also educated. This is a place where kids are truly understood, developed, and trained to live in the way God has designed them to.
I can point to a few reasons why this is the case:
Purpose – Our primary purpose here at CCS is literally to change our world for God’s purpose. Does this sound like a school’s purpose to you? Transforming cultures through teaching and training people in their purpose before God. It goes way beyond providing excellent academics. To me, this is the purpose of God’s Church, and education is one method. But education is not the only goal for us. A school with this kind of purpose is going to produce students who not only are excellent in academics, but can lead in the areas in which God has designed them to lead. Our students are world changers.
Mission – Teachers and coaches are impacting our children daily through our mission: To glorify God by providing quality, Christ-centered education dedicated to developing discerning leaders who are spiritually, personally, and academically prepared to impact their world. I see the education part in there, but it is only one part. My kids are not just experiencing high-level academics; they are being developed as leaders as well, both spiritually and personally. At CCS, we get to partner with these amazing influencers who speak life, wisdom, and sometimes correction into the lives of our kids.
Leadership – The desire of CCS leadership is to lead from God’s perspective and power to bring about His will in our students and in the CCS community. It has been said that an organization’s growth will be capped by its leadership. At CCS, the leadership is a collaborative group of godly and creative professionals. Check out this year’s CCS Leaders Team Maximum Impact Statement: We are a GOD-led, anointed, interdependent, unified TEAM of steward leaders who serve, empower, equip, and inspire our CCS community, causing each one to feel known and valued while maximizing our strategic plan. I can honestly say that this is not just a motto; our daily goal is to live up to this statement.
Hard Work – A true spirit of service is a standard that CCS staff attempt to live by. At CCS, staff work hard to see our kids thrive and to ensure success for them. Even if a school has a deep purpose, a clear mission, and great leadership, it can still fail to reach its maximum impact when people don’t roll up their sleeves and get to work. At CCS, it is normal for employees to go above and beyond the call of duty to make things happen for others.
Am I an employee of CCS? Yes, but I am a parent first — a proud parent of five Cascade Christian Cougars. And this is the best community I could have ever hoped to raise my kids in. May God bless you this year as you continue to sow into the lives of your own children by keeping them enrolled at CCS.
