CCS Moves into the Future with New Spiritual Formation Positions
Earlier this year, the CCS Board of Trustees authorized a new position in the area of spiritual formation. The interview and hiring process has just concluded, and God led us to an amazing outcome which has enabled us to provide resources at multiple levels. We are pleased and excited to announce that we have two individuals who lead this area as a team: Joshua Stines and Brian Wilson.
Mr. Stines will be filling the role of Director of Spiritual Formation. In this role, Mr. Stines will coordinate efforts at the district level, working with the principals and staff of every campus to develop curriculum and programs that will enhance the overall spiritual formation of our students. As part of this role, Mr. Stines will also be teaching Bible classes at the high school.
Mr. Wilson will be taking on the campus-level role of JH/HS Dean of Students. In this role, Mr. Wilson will provide support in the area of spiritual formation, specifically to JH/HS students and staff. As part of this role, Mr. Wilson will continue teaching JH Bible classes.
- planning comprehensive programs and activities which will support the spiritual formation of our students,
- planning and speaking in chapels,
- talking with students individually and in small groups about issues they are dealing with,
- planning and leading service/ministry related activities, and
- strengthening our relationships with churches in the area.
Our goal is to expand the spiritual formation team in the future to have campus-level leaders at each of the elementary campuses as well.
More about Mr. Stines…
Mr. Joshua Stines grew up in North Carolina attending private Christian school. It wasn’t until he suffered an injury in high school that ended his ability to participate in sports, however, that he would answer the call to full-time ministry. Little did he know that answering this call would take him all over the world.
Upon graduating with his Bachelor’s degree in Religion from Trevecca Nazarene University, Joshua and his wife, Paige, served overseas in Poland as missionaries working in a coffee shop ministry. Here, they built relationships with customers during the week with the goal of connecting them into bible study groups and ministry opportunities on the weekend.
Joshua was called back to the U.S. in 2012 to serve as minister to youth and their families at Hillside Church in Kent, Washington. At Hillside, Joshua worked with students from all over the world to help them grow in their faith by leading mid-week meetings, taking them on service trips, summer camps, and weekend retreats, and connecting them to the overall vision and mission of the church.
Joshua has also served as a leader for the youth of the Washington Pacific District Church of the Nazarene, which is comprised of over 85 churches. His roles have included Junior High Camp Director (2015 and 2016), Missions Day director of the annual Puget Sound service day (2017 and 2018), and a member-at-large on the district youth council. Joshua has been an ordained minister in the church of the Nazarene since 2014 and will be graduating in May with his Master of Divinity in Spiritual Formation from Northwest Nazarene University.
Joshua is excited to serve at Cascade Christian in a role that will integrate school, family, and church in a manner that will sow seeds of faith with lasting results. He is driven with a conviction that families play a vital role in the formation of faith in the lives of their children. As a result, he is passionate about not only developing a K-12 Bible curriculum that helps students grow in every aspect of their faith, but also helping to develop other K-12 comprehensive programs that empower families with the tools to live out what is being reinforced at school and at church.
Since 2007, Joshua has been happily married to his wife, Paige, who is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Washington. Together, they have one son, Jaden, who is thirteen months old, and are looking forward to welcoming their second child in August of 2019. Joshua’s hobbies include hiking, drinking specialty coffee, listening to Vinyl records, and spending time with family and friends.
More about Mr. Wilson…
Mr. Brian Wilson has been teaching Bible and PE at Cascade Christian Junior High for just over a year. He has also been involved in leading worship and speaking in chapels.
Before coming to Cascade Christian Schools, Brian was in full time pastoral ministry for 18 years as a Worship Pastor, Youth Pastor, Campus Pastor and Young Life Area Director. Brian received his BA in Social Sciences Education from Central Washington University in 1997 and taught Social Studies and English at Enumclaw High School. He also finished his Master of Ministry degree from Corban University in 2012.
Brian has been married to Angie for 20 years and they have 4 children. Brian and his wife have been very involved in foster care and adoption ministry, and Brian enjoys playing guitar and fly fishing in his spare time.
Mr. Wilson is excited for the opportunity to expand his scope of ministry and impact in the lives of students, staff, and families in this new role.
Mr. Wilson and Mr. Stines will make a great team as they lead our efforts in this expanded realm of spiritual formation. We are grateful to God for His provision in this aspect of the life of our school and covet your prayers as we move forward. We know that God has something special in store for us in the days ahead.
