Giving Thanks!

December 01, 2021
By Puyallup ELC

Greeting, Cougar Families!

We are honored this week to hear from Erin King, our 4s/5s KPrep lead teacher:

This month, we enjoyed teaching about Thanksgiving and the meaning of giving thanks. When I think of the month with my class, it brings me great joy to remember our discussions and the children’s responses. For some children, the idea of giving thanks might be a new concept; just think how wonderful is it that we get to add Jesus and what He’s done for us into our thankfulness!

Here are some things my students shared that they are thankful for: sisters, animals, weather, family, food, parents, friends, and school. (They always include those pets!) One of my parents said that their son prays for teachers every night. And I even had one student tell me, “Don’t forget to be thankful for the Holy Spirit.” Out of the mouths of babes! Psalm 145 says that when the peace of God rules in our hearts, thankfulness overflows. Even in the darkest of times, we can praise God for His love, His sovereignty, and His promise to be near us when we call.

We would also like to thank all our veterans who have served and are currently serving. Your sacrifice, as well as that of your families, is unimaginable. You help keep our country safe and our freedoms enduring. We are SO thankful for all of you who help defend our right to worship freely so that even in school, we can worship together in Christ Jesus and build Christlike minds … oh, I give thanks for this every day!

Praying that all of our families had a safe, restful, and filling Thanksgiving holiday.
