Happy Administrative and After-School Professionals Week!

April 24, 2024
By Annie Pichot, Principal

Frederickson Campus Community,

Today I am reminded of what a magnificent team we have here at our Frederickson campus and how grateful I am for all they do to serve our school community. We have a dynamic office team who ensures that our school runs smoothly. Kelley Rochon and Amanda Cunningham are indispensable to our school, handling everything from answering phones and greeting parents in the morning to supporting teachers and, most importantly, taking care of students. Without them, our school would not function nearly as well. They create a positive experience for all who come through our doors.

Our recess team is also an essential component of our school. We began the year with RaeLynn Zaharevich and Lydia Raab, who have done outstanding work with our students over the last several years. When both were called to different roles at CCS, we were blessed to have two other fabulous individuals take the baton. Both Whitney Wolford and Dawn Billiot have stepped in seamlessly to continue loving our students well by teaching them how to be a good friend while having fun. We are thankful for all that you do!

In our early learning center, Sara Bond is vital in supporting our director, Kristi Lewis, as these two do such a wonderful job loving on our little ones. Sara has worn multiple hats in her time at Cascade Christian, and her incredible skill set has been a gift to both the elementary and early learning teams over the years. We can’t imagine what it would be like without you, Sara!

For Cougar Club, we are blessed with superb individuals who love Jesus and love kids! Rain or shine, Mrs. Hedy and her team come ready to serve our families who need that extra care before or after school. Students have the opportunity to hear devotions, learn new arts and crafts, and participate in fun activities and after-school clubs, all while being kept safe in a nurturing environment. We are thankful for Cougar Club and the many ways it blesses our community!

A school is not complete without a hard-working and talented kitchen team, and we are blessed to have the dynamic duo of Lisa and Hannah Vance serving up the most delicious lunches to our student body daily. This mother-daughter combination works extremely well together, and our students consistently comment on how much they enjoy our school lunches year in and year out.

Lastly, we want to give a huge shout-out to all our VSO (Veterans Security Operations) security guards who serve our campus by ensuring that our kiddos are always safe and protected. You have all done an outstanding job in building relationships with our students and giving both our parents and staff peace of mind that a safe school is a top priority here at CCS. Thank you for your bravery and heart for service!

We also cannot say enough about all our amazing teachers, teacher assistants, specialists, and student support team, but their week of honor is coming up soon.

They say it takes a village, and what a village we have here at Frederickson! We are truly better together, and we are delighted by the team that the Lord has orchestrated here at our campus!

An Unforgettable Experience

April 17, 2024
By Tyler McClung, CCS Board Chair

CCS Community:

I recently had the chance to chaperone the 8th grade I-Term trip to Washington D.C., an unforgettable experience. It was rewarding to watch our teachers and staff plan the trip, our parents engage with students as chaperones, and our students view American history through a biblical lens. I was reminded of Cascade Christian’s core value of wisdom, viewing life from God’s perspective, and of the commitment to immerse students in a biblical worldview in every area of life.

The trip reminded me of our many blessings, including living in a country where our founders established religious freedom nearly 250 years ago. This freedom allows us to continue to serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ actively, making it possible for our students to pursue their God-given purpose and potential. Not all societies around the world enjoy these same freedoms and privileges that we do.

I was impressed by our students’ engagement during the trip and by their ability to respectfully interact with each other for five days. This is one of the many benefits of Cascade Christian Schools, where we are committed to treating everyone with love, respect, and dignity, recognizing each individual as uniquely created in the image of God. It was great to see the kids living out the importance of unity within community!

As a board member, I participate in an annual meeting with outgoing seniors. When asked about their favorite memories, the most common answer is I-Term. This is where all the learning throughout the years is put into action, either through serving others or learning more about God’s Kingdom. This is a beautiful reminder of the blessing of being part of the Cascade Christian community.

Finally, I want to specifically thank all of our teachers and staff who facilitated these amazing trips. Our students will surely remember their I-Term experiences for years to come. Your hard work and dedication has created a significant impact.

Finding Refuge in God's Presence: Trusting in His Unfailing Security

April 10, 2024
By Jake Petersen, Director of Safety & Security

As we navigate the challenges of life, we often seek security in various forms—financial stability, social connections, physical safety. Yet, true security can be found only in God, who is our ultimate refuge and strength. Like a sturdy shelter in the midst of a storm, God offers us a safe haven where we can find peace and protection.

Psalm 27 speaks to the universal human longing for security and protection in the face of life’s uncertainties. Written by King David, this ancient hymn resonates with timeless truths about finding refuge in the intimate presence of God.

In verse 5, which says, “He will hide me in the secret place in His tent” (NASB), secret place is from the Hebrew word çêther, which means “covering, shelter, hiding place.” And the word tent is from the Hebrew word ʼôhel, which means “dwelling, home, habitation” of God—more than merely physical proximity. David is emphasizing the profound intimacy of our relationship with God that transcends the physical.

Throughout the month of April, we will be exploring what it means for us to DWELL IN GOD’S SECURITY. We want our students to look to God and trust in Him for ultimate security. Trusting in God's security means surrendering our fears and anxieties into His capable hands. It means acknowledging our dependence on Him for guidance, provision, and protection. When we place our trust in God, we can rest assured that He is faithful to uphold us, even in the darkest of times.

In a world filled with uncertainty, God remains our steadfast anchor. He is the one constant amid life’s ever-changing circumstances. When we abide in His presence, we experience a profound sense of peace that surpasses all understanding. We are reminded that no matter what challenges we face, God is always with us, leading us forward with unwavering love and grace.

Trusting in God’s security doesn’t mean that we will never encounter difficulties or hardships. Instead, it means that we can face life’s challenges with courage and resilience, knowing that God is fighting for us and working all things together for our good. In Him, we find the strength to persevere, the wisdom to navigate adversity, and the hope to press on toward the future He has planned for us.

As we reflect on Psalm 27:5, let us be reminded of the profound truth that God is our refuge and fortress, our ever-present help in times of trouble. May we take comfort in the assurance that we can trust in His unfailing security, knowing that He will never leave us nor forsake us.

He Is Risen

March 26, 2024
By Annie Pichot, Principal

Celebrating Easter has been a big part of my family’s traditions ever since I was a little girl. We would always put on our best Easter outfits and head to church with joy in our hearts that HE IS RISEN! I loved singing praises of gratitude that Jesus had overcome the grave and witnessing people accepting the invitation to follow Him as Lord over their lives. A family meal would follow with the people who meant so much to me. Laughter, smiles, joy, and gratefulness—these are the things that are tradition in my family.

Below is a picture of my brother and me in our Easter outfits, getting ready to welcome people to church. I had the privilege of having two sets of grandparents who had committed their lives in service of the Lord as pastors. I saw firsthand how much prayer, study, and other preparation went into the chapel messages each week. I also got to see the immediate need of a pastor to console a family, pray for them, and care for them during tough times. It was with the greatest understanding that there was a calling over them to love Jesus and love people, a calling that meant devoting their lives to doing just that in the hard times and the good.

This picture of my brother and me represents the people who came before us who chose to spread the good news and proclaim the name of Jesus over our lives. This picture also represents the next generation of men and women who are called with a purpose. I am honored to serve amazing families here at Cascade Christian and join them in proclaiming the name of Jesus over our children. I pray that this Easter brings joy into your hearts and gratefulness for the things the Lord has done, from generations ago until now, that we may celebrate His resurrection and perfect plan in things to come.
