I love that we get to start off the month of Thanksgiving with gratitude in our hearts for all that we hold dear, and for the men and women that came before us to pave the way. What a wonderful time of year to take a moment and “Be Still” in honor of those that have sacrificed much. Veterans Day is an important day to recognize those within our community who have served or are currently serving in the military, and here at Frederickson we have the privilege of serving many military families.
Today, we hosted a Veterans Day chapel where we got to recognize the veterans within our community and extended families. We had an amazing guest speaker, Zach Abrams, share about following Jesus and being a light to others while serving our country. We also learned about the importance and significance of Veterans Day. We took time to honor our veterans with student-made gifts, a heritage video created from pictures of family service members, and a positive message about how God is impacting our veteran community.
Our chapel guest speaker, Zach Abrams, was born and raised in Tucson, AZ. After graduating high school, he attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY. He was commissioned as an Army engineer officer in 2010. He was assigned to the 14th Engineer Battalion at Joint Base Lewis-McChord and deployed to Afghanistan for one year as a route clearance platoon leader. In 2015, Zach transitioned from full-time military service to drilling monthly in the Army Reserves and is still serving in that way. Zach and his wife Jessica have been married for nine years and have three children. Zach is in full-time ministry with Oaks International reaching soldiers and airmen for Jesus at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
Thank you all for participating with us in honoring those who serve!
