September is my favorite time of year: A new school year. A new beginning. A time to make new friends and tackle new challenges. Some students greet it with joy and hopeful anticipation: Friends! Long division! Cursive! Others face September with anxious concern: Friends? Long division? Cursive?
I am delighted to watch the students move from trepidation to a sense of belonging within the school. As teachers, we seek to truly know and welcome each of our students into the classroom. September provides such a privilege to reassure reluctant learners, calm fears, and grow.
Whether your children are thrilled at the idea of a new school year or sad that summer is over, please know that they are part of a community of believers who desire to know and love each of them as what they are—a wonderful child of God. Be assured we can trust the promise of Jeremiah 29:11, “ ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you …’ ”
Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year. It’s off to a fantastic start!

Our (Extended) Recreation Department has had an awesome start to the new school year! Formerly known as our elementary Extended School, our desire as the CCS Recreation Department is to provide our athletes with numerous opportunities to grow and to compete in a manner that honors and glorifies the Lord (Colossians 3:23). The benefits gained by participating in athletics is astonishing! To read more about how children benefit from competitive sports and what the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommends, see the article titled “Why Are Sports Important for Children’s Development?” (by Jonathan Moody, from the website Physio Inq, April 2019, physioinq.com.au).
We warmly applaud this fall season! What a blessing to have more than 150 soccer players on the pitch right now. Cross Country is gearing up, and we have exciting plans for volleyball so please watch for information coming out soon. A fabulous cheer clinic hosted by our HS cheer squad is right around the corner. Sign up for these fall sports now.
CCS parents and grandparents play such an important role in the lives of our athletes, as well as in the athletic community. Thank you for being the best fans ever! Your love and support mean the world to our athletes and coaches. We encourage our CCS adults to get involved in volunteering and coaching for an extra opportunity to impact the lives of our children, our schools, and our community.
Through our (Extended) Recreation Athletics, Cascade Christian has such an incredible ability to welcome many, from babes on up, to shine His light (Matthew 5:14–16). We are so honored!
God bless our CCS athletes and their families. GO COUGS!
It has been great to see students and families back on campus over the last two weeks. We are so excited about this school year adventure!
My prayer for this year is that we would be Unshakeable in our walk with the Lord. We can do this by partnering together to focus on all the things we get to do!
We get to…
Share the Gospel with Our Students
Teach Truth from God’s Word
Pray for One Another
Fellowship and Worship Together
Serve, Disciple, and Bless
“I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand,
I will not be shaken.” —Psalm 16:8 (NIV)

I am praying that our students, families, staff, and entire CCS community will have an incredible year as we watch the Lord do a mighty work in us and through us.

Welcome back!
Joy was in the air at last week’s Convocation as we came together to start off the year with prayer. New faces connecting with familiar faces created a magical evening. Even during these challenging times, the CCS community continues to rely on the unshakeable nature of our God to shape our character.
I anticipate moments this year when our students experience Jesus in the classroom, in chapel, in athletic venues, on the stage, and in every aspect of CCS. In faith, we look forward to making room for growth on our secondary campus by adding classrooms to our new junior high building and taking first steps toward upgrading our athletic fields. The path ahead is exciting!
Speaking of exciting, I’d like to introduce the newest member of our Advancement Team, Morgan Utley. Morgan has served the CCS community in a variety of ways—most recently as McAlder’s amazing campus enrollment manager. She is now following the Lord’s call to step into the lead role for continued development of the Cascade Fund and alumni program. Welcome, Morgan!
I look forward to sharing many moments of joy with you. Happy start to a new school year!
Rob Mitton
Director of Advancement
