Guidance and Hope

January 17, 2024
By Carlee Peterson, Principal

“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” —Romans 5:1–5 (NIV)

Last week in chapel, we were reminded that God is always with us, that we can see Him in creation, and that His Word is filled with truths that lead and guide us. We looked briefly at the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as well as the life of Job, in the Bible. Both Job and Dr. King faced difficulties and challenges. But both men looked to God’s faithfulness, justice, mercy, goodness, and love. They knew that God was with them, and they looked to His Word for guidance.

As we reflect on the life and impact of Dr. King, may we remember the promises found in Romans chapter five: for those who are in Christ, we have been justified, we are at peace with God, and we have grace. When we face challenging times, we can know that God is doing a great work. He will grow our character and build hope. May we boast in the hope we have in Christ!

Our Open House is coming soon! We will host the Puyallup Elementary Open House in our new junior high building. Please encourage friends to come check it out on Saturday, January 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.! Our kindergarten information session will begin at 11 a.m.
