And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. Last week in chapel, we were reminded that God is always with us, that we can see Him in creation, and that His Word is filled with truths that lead and guide us. We looked briefly at the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as well as the life of Job, in the Bible. Both Job and Dr. King faced difficulties and challenges. But both men looked to God’s faithfulness, justice, mercy, goodness, and love. They knew that God was with them, and they looked to His Word for guidance.  

As we reflect on the life and impact of Dr. King, may we remember the promises found in Romans chapter five: for those who are in Christ, we have been justified, we are at peace with God, and we have grace. When we face challenging times, we can know that God is doing a great work. He will grow our character and build hope. May we boast in the hope we have in Christ!
