Just two short weeks ago, I kicked off the school year with our amazing staff. During our kick-off event, we paused to look at what Paul writes in the book of Colossians. He reminds us that Jesus is and should be the center of our lives. We live from Him, for Him, and in Him!
Our theme verses this year are Colossians 2:6-7 (NIV), and they show us the central message of the entire book of Colossians:
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
We are reminded in these two verses that Christ is central. We received Christ, we walk in Him, we are rooted in Him, and we are to be built up in Him! We are commanded to walk in Him. We must rely not on our own strength but in His grace. We are also called to live a life of worship and thankfulness. May thanksgiving overflow from our hearts, our lips, and our lives.
My goal this year is to proclaim the goodness of God and the gospel of Christ! I want to challenge myself, my staff, and our students and families to constantly be reminded of what God has done for us, to overflow with thanksgiving, and to continually grow in Him.
I would love to invite you to join our campus at chapel every Thursday morning from 8:45 to 9:15. Together we will learn what it means to be rooted in God, the Bible, and the church. We will grow together in love, hope, and gratitude. And we will practice what it looks like to thrive in the mission of God, in worship, and in obedience.
I am excited to be rooted in Christ this year!
