Gratitude and generosity … these are the words we spoke every time our team prayed over this year’s IMPACT Auction.
On Saturday, March 25, at the Hotel Murano, I had the pleasure of seeing the CCS community beaming beautiful smiles, embracing one another, and laughing in celebration as they came together for the students of CCS.
Our superintendent, Dr. Ken Friesen, opened in prayer by expressing gratitude for each person in the room. From this posture, the CCS community proceeded to outpour immense generosity.
You and your CCS community helped raise a record-breaking $540,000. This was accomplished through
The 2023 IMPACT Auction had dual purposes. The first was to help raise funds toward the Fields of Dreams, to provide surfaces for CCS students to practice and compete on and to give the students light—to literally illuminate their dreams! The second was to provide the CCS community with the opportunity to fellowship in a spirit of gratitude and generosity.
We hope that those of you who were able to attend the auction felt welcomed and enjoyed celebrating with your CCS family. We look forward to the many gatherings in our future where we can celebrate gratitude and generosity together. Thank you!
I’ve asked Jake Mosby, this year’s ASB president, to reflect on his I-Term experience here at CCS:
While being a student at Cascade Christian, I have had the opportunity and privilege of going on two I-Term trips and shortly will leave on another. The CCS I-Term program has had a great impact on my life and on those around me, as I have seen it change my outlook on the world. My sophomore year, I went on our National Parks trip and developed a better appreciation for God’s creation. I went to South Africa last year as a junior and got to serve children in the township of Masiphumulele. During that trip, I built relationships I thought would have never happened, saw the grateful hearts of impoverished children, and learned how to give thanks to God in all circumstances.
I-Term has taught me to serve with an open and loving heart while not doing anything with a selfish mindset. As I get ready to return to South Africa in one short week, I look forward to growing stronger relationships with the people I met last year, seeing my friends’ hearts changed, and getting to have new experiences and memories. The South Africa I-Term as well as the other ones have brought me so many great memories and taught me so many lessons. I can’t wait to see how they impact other students who experience them!

Our KPrep and elementary students are wonderful and filled with wonder! They greet the world with inquisitive attitudes, wide eyes, and welcoming smiles. With that in mind, Cascade Christian’s Recreation Department offers many impactful enrichment opportunities all year long. Please see our website for our spring enrichments!
WOW! It is also the perfect time to highlight the upcoming Thrive summer enrichment minicamps. Our enrichment specialists design these camps to help enhance our campers’ love for exploring God's world around them! Campers will make new friends and gain valuable self-confidence during these 2 ½-hour minicamps, which are held four days a week. We offer everything from cooking, art, gardening, dance, and a variety of sports activities for both our KPreppers and elementary campers. See our website for more information. Space fills up fast and registration opens April 2023.
We are so proud of our Recreation elementary strings program and the beautiful music that our students create. It has been a wonderful year! Our orchestra students recently participated in the regional junior high solo and ensemble contest on Saturday, March 4, and received a rating of Superior! Our 6th graders, Ruby Reed and Sarai Bohanon, played solos and received Superior ratings as well! Amazing job!
In addition to the arts, sports, and other elective class offerings such as culinary and engineering classes, lunch times at the JH/HS have been filled with a couple of fun clubs!
Jesus Club
Jesus Club is led by high school students every Thursday during lunch! Last week in Jesus Club, Noelle (grade 10) and Edwin (grade 12) dove into Matthew 14:22–33.
After reading through the Scripture, Noelle shared, “Peter is in the midst of a storm and has his eyes on Jesus but loses sight of Him. So he calls out to Jesus and puts his hope and faith back in God … and [Jesus] pulls him back up. We need to put our faith in Jesus. He is the only one that will fill our void.”
The theme of the day was putting our trust in God. Edwin shared his testimony of how he needs God to get him through tough times: “Set your eyes on God. Put your stress and struggles in His hands. You need one-on-one time with God in addition to community and group prayer.”
Lunchtime ended with prayer and a feeling of encouragement through the reading of Romans 15:13 (NIV), “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Chess Tournaments
Also during lunch, you can find chess tournaments in Mr. Topp’s classroom! Teachers and students have been exercising their brains through lunch periods with games of chess.
On Monday, we sent out our annual State of the School! We have so many things to be thankful for and we are so happy to share them with you! If you have not had the chance to read it yet, we encourage you to take the time to do so here.
Here are a few fun facts from the State of the School that we wanted to take the time to highlight! If you have any questions, we encourage you to reach out to your campus leader.
God has blessed CCS tremendously and we are excited to share just a small portion of that with you!
Spring, my favorite time of year, is almost here. I love seeing the trees putting out new growth, whether it be flowers or tiny green buds that will eventually grow into completely formed leaves, delighting the eyes with as many shades of green.
A tree planted in soil that is rich and healthy and that regularly receives the nutrients it needs naturally displays its beauty. It can’t help but be how God designed it. Not only is a tree beautiful, but it becomes home to birds of all kinds, as well as other critters. It can provide food for animals and people. It provides shade on hot days. It reproduces more beautiful trees.
If we are firmly planted in the right “soil,” getting what we need to grow spiritually, we will be like that tree. Psalm 1:1–3 tells us that we will then be able to bear fruit, stay strong, and prosper in how God designed us. We have been called to thrive in the mission of God. What is that mission? In a nutshell, it is to show Jesus to people so they too can become Christ-followers (Matthew 28:19–20).
During the month of March, we will be learning how to THRIVE IN THE MISSION OF GOD. Students as well as staff will learn that if they are rooted in God, His Word, and the church, the right kind of growth will happen. As they grow, the natural result is becoming a living example of Christ’s love for others. We will see biblical examples of people who thrived in the mission of God—the Good Samaritan, Phoebe, Rahab, and a small boy who gave up his lunch to feed thousands. The actions of these people allowed others to see God’s love and His desire for all to come to Him.
Showing others the mission of God is not limited to words only. People can see Jesus in what we do and how we love others. Take time this month to reflect on how you are sharing the gospel—through words as well as through actions. What you say and do reflect the “soil and nutrients” you are planted in. Like those beautiful trees in the spring, we should naturally display the mission of God. Don’t forget, many times others will watch you before they listen to you.
