Prepared for an Emergency

The mission of the Cascade Christian Schools’ emergency plan is to protect lives and property, mitigate the effects of a disaster, and prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and disasters. 

Incident Command System

Cascade Christian Schools uses the Incident Command System, which represents best practices and is the nationally recognized standard for emergency management.  

Additionally, CCS partners with East Pierce Interlocal Coalition Emergency Management (EPIC-EM), a combination of emergency management departments that serves as the centralized emergency operations center for Puyallup and seven other jurisdictions. CCS’s emergency plan is unified with EPIC-EM, which creates simplicity for our first responders.

The CCS emergency plan identifies and clarifies emergency roles and responsibilities for CCS students and staff, and it empowers them in an emergency to enact those roles. Laws passed by the legislature and enacted by the Washington Administrative Code regulate Washington State K–12 schools. While most are specific to public schools, CCS uses these laws as best practice in setting high standards to create safe schools.

CCS has adopted the I Love You Guys (ILYG) Foundation’s Standard Response Protocol (SRP) and Standard Reunification Method (SRM). The ILYG-SRP/SRM is a nationally recognized best practice safety response plan. It is understood that, in today’s changing threat environment, Cascade Christian Schools must prepare for all emergencies.

Security

Our CCS Security Team comprises dedicated professionals committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and staff. We also have armed security guards from Veterans Vanguard Security (VVS) present on each campus.

Reunification Procedures

In case of an emergency, we have campus-specific reunification procedures that will ensure a safe and secure means of accounting for students and reuniting parents/guardians with their students. Cascade Christian Schools’ reunification process outlines procedures for reuniting students with their families after an emergency.  

Our reunification plan also includes communication protocols for informing staff, students, families, and emergency responders; coordinates with local emergency response agencies; and aligns with state guidance and uniform across Pierce County. On-campus and off-campus reunification sites have been identified, and they include a secure student staging area and parent check-in area, as well as other essential components.
