The CCS Instrumental Arts Program provides students with
opportunities to explore, develop, and
demonstrate their God-given creative potential.

At Cascade Christian Schools, we seek to offer a comprehensive music education. Band students learn much more than how to play an instrument and read music. They learn about music composition, music theory, sight-singing, ear training, and music from other cultures. Students often learn to play more than one instrument.

  • Elementary Instrumental Arts

Starting in elementary school, as a part of CCS’s comprehensive music education, all 6th graders learn to play an instrument—flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, and/or percussion—through a unique program called Band for All. Classes are held twice a week during the school year. Instruction and materials are provided, although the students provide their own instruments (with some instruments available on loan through the program). Students in elementary school band participate in a variety of performances, including at their campus Christmas concert and at the All-District Band Concert at the end of the school year. The program at each campus is designed to train students to use their gifts to glorify God.

Along with having 3 elementary school bands, CCS offers students the opportunity to learn to play string instruments. Under the umbrella of the Cougar Club program, Cascade offers string instrument instruction—in both private and group settings—through all grade levels. Students not only perform at their individual campus concerts, but they also combine forces to give district orchestra performances in the community at Christmas and again in the spring.

  • Junior High and High School Instrumental Arts

Classes are offered for students in grades 7-12. Students are placed in the band appropriate for their age and ability with the potential for advancement by audition. Bands perform at three concerts throughout the year, in addition to other public performances and festivals. All band students have the opportunity to participate in the CCS Pep Band, which plays at football and basketball home games and other school events.
