General FAQ About Variable Tuition

The Variable Tuition program allows families to apply for an adjustment of their tuition on the basis of each family’s individual financial situation, making a Cascade Christian education affordable to qualified students who could not otherwise join our school community.

Any family of a preschool/kindergarten prep through twelfth-grade student may apply for Variable Tuition if the family is concerned about affording the full tuition rate at Cascade Christian Schools.

Many factors, including income, assets, unusual expenses, and the size of the family, are taken into consideration when determining the amount of tuition a family is able to pay. Additional resources (in addition to regular income) available for the family in a given year must also be considered when determining Variable Tuition awards available at Cascade Christian.

It is not possible for a family or the school to estimate the tuition level for which a family qualifies without the completion of a Variable Tuition application, which is submitted directly to FACTS Grant & Aid, a third-party agency. FACTS evaluates the application on the basis of criteria set by the school and makes a recommendation to the school’s Variable Tuition team. Cascade Christian Schools’ Business Department then notifies families of the tuition level for which they qualify.

Unfortunately, CCS is not able to provide Variable Tuition to every deserving student. We work within the available resources to make the school accessible to as many students and families as possible.

A wide range of families with a variety of circumstances qualify for the program, from those who are able to pay close to exit level (highest amount) of Variable Tuition to those who are at the entry level (lowest amount) of the range. Many factors are evaluated, including income, assets, unusual expenses, and family size.

It is not. Cascade Christian Schools asks families to make a financial investment in their child’s education. Our commitment to providing Variable Tuition means that we are sharing in that investment with families.

No. Cascade Christian Schools strives to keep classes at sizes that will create an ideal learning environment for our students and teachers. With that in mind, we will continue to accept qualified, mission-appropriate students.

Go to FACTS Grant & Aid, the third-party service we utilize to help us determine the amount of Variable Tuition adjustment that is appropriate for your family. FACTS will need you to submit some personal expense information, your federal income tax return, W-2 forms, and supporting documentation for nontaxable income.

Once all required information has been submitted to our confidential third-party service, the process of approving and sending the Variable Tuition offer letter typically takes about two weeks. The offer letter will arrive by email.

Note: In order to receive a Variable Tuition offer letter:

  • New families must apply.
  • Returning families must pay a minimum of the first installment of their Continuous Enrollment (CE) tuition down payment.

The cost to submit an application to FACTS for Variable Tuition is $40. This nonrefundable amount is collected by FACTS, not by Cascade Christian Schools.

Variable Tuition applications can be submitted as early as January 1 for the following school year. However, please be aware that you must provide the most current year’s tax returns for the application to be considered complete.

Multiple students are one of the key factors in determining Variable Tuition. One of the important questions asked on the confidential Variable Tuition application relates to family size and number of students enrolled at Cascade Christian Schools. If you qualify for and accept a Variable Tuition adjustment, you will not see a separate discount for multiple students on your statement. However, it will be a part of the calculation for the Variable Tuition adjustment.
